Hurricane Victims Find Friends in San Antone

If you have ever been to San Antonio you have seen how nice and generous the people are. It is a big little town I like to say. Big as in Huge; some 1.25 million people live there. The Folks in San Antonio are good, decent folks with big hearts; there is lots of community pride and volunteerism is alive and well. It is a good choice to send the 25,000 refugees from the Gulf Coast. They will find themselves in a warm family atmosphere to a city that has opened their eyes, hearts and wallets to their fellow Americans.

What makes San Antonio so different than other cities its size? Well there is a huge Hispanic Contingency there, 65% of the city is of Hispanic Decent and they have tight families. San Antonio also has 4% more women than men living there and there is plenty of empathy for all. San Antonio has the largest percentage of population which are retired military who have served this great nation in all of our many times of need and World conflicts. In San Antonio they know how to get things done. It is a major tourist destination point with its River Walk and Alamo Museum.

San Antonio has also experienced flooding and is always quick to mop up. They are a people set apart from the rest of us, with determination; strength of character and the right attitude of perseverance as an example to help those who have lost everything see it thru.

Rick Perry who is Governor of Texas visited the Hurricane Katrina evacuees in Dallas and said with a Big Texas welcome; “We are with you!” Houston, San Antonio, Austin and Dallas are quickly absorbing their fair share of the responsibility we all have as Americans to support our fellow citizens in their time of need. Meanwhile as hundreds of thousands seek refuge in Texas going the other way are nearly a 10,000 volunteers from Texas and 800 Utility Workers to help survivors and then to start on the long job of getting everything back working. You have friends in Texas. Think on this.
